My area of concern is _______________________.

DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Focus Point: Faith

Read Exodus 13:17-22

God delivered His people from Egypt to go to the promised land. Israel was in battle formation, but God saw they were not ready for war. So he led them on the long road to the promised land.

  • What was encouraging in this part of the story for God’s people?

  • What concerns would you have had left the main road to go into the desert?

  • How has God led you in a direction that wasn’t logical but led you to depend on Him more?

Read Exodus 14:1-4

  • Why did God lead His people to a seemingly dead end between Pharaoh’s army and the sea?

  • Has God ever led you into a seemingly hopeless situation?  Why?

Read Exodus 14:5-31

  • What was Israel’s first reaction when they “saw” the Egyptian army?

  • Israel was forced to see God save them. What was the result (vv.30-31)?

  • What should you do the next time you face an impossible situation?
