DEVOTIONAL: personal and group

Focus Point: Evangelism

2 Kings 5:15-27 “Evangelizing the Enemy” part 2

  • How had God’s promise through Abram to the nations come true for Naaman the Syrian?

  • In v.15, Naaman’s confession is that the God of Israel is the only God. Why did he not just worship God alongside his other Syrian gods?

  • How is Naaman’s faith now greater than the king of Israel, vv.7-8?

  • Why do you think Elisha rejects the offer of a gift from Naaman?

  • Naaman is committed to worshiping God alone, but his work requires him to make some outward pagan appearances, while his heart remains devoted to God. Elisha understands.

  • How are you challenged to be devoted to God alone at work and in your culture?

  • Vv.19b-27 How did Gehazi compromise the message that Naaman would carry back to Syria about the God of Israel?

  • How are we tempted to compromise what others think about Jesus by putting our own desires first?
